The North Central Renaissance Movement (NCRM) has called for a power shift to the North Central in the 2027 presidential election, citing decades of political exclusion.
In a communique issued in Abuja, NCRM argued that the region, comprising Niger, Kogi, Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kwara, and the FCT, has never produced an elected president or vice president.
The coalition, led by Prof.
Nghargbu K’tso, insisted that if President Bola Tinubu seeks re-election under the APC, his running mate must come from the North Central.
They urged all political parties to field candidates from the region, emphasizing the need for fairness, equity, and inclusion.
K’tso lamented that despite producing national party chairmen and other top officials, North Central politicians are often sidelined in presidential contests.
He urged the region’s leaders to aspire for higher offices, rejecting the perception of being “second-class citizens” in national politics. The group vowed to mobilize support to ensure North Central’s representation in 2027.
