Obasa Reinstated as Lagos Assembly Speaker Amid Political Turbulence

After a period of political turmoil, Mudashiru Obasa has resumed his role as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Obasa’s return follows the abrupt resignation of his successor, Mojisola Meranda, who had served for only 49 days after his impeachment on corruption charges in January.

Meranda’s short tenure ended amid a leadership crisis that rekindled debates on transparency and good governance within the Assembly.

A seasoned legislator with years of experience, Obasa expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their loyalty and reaffirmed his commitment to representing Lagosians’ interests.

In his first address after reassuming office, he pledged that the Assembly would continue to uphold transparency and accountability in all its proceedings, insisting that actions, not lengthy speeches, will drive progress for the people.

The House is now poised to address pressing legislative matters, and stakeholders remain hopeful that Obasa’s reinstatement will restore stability.
