Governor Ademola Adeleke has condemned the violence, calling on President Bola Tinubu and security agencies to intervene before the situation spirals further.
In a statement, Adeleke blamed opposition elements for the unrest, alleging that thugs were deployed to disrupt campaign activities.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) swiftly fired back, accusing the governor’s camp of instigating the attacks.
The blame game comes after gunshots rang out during a political walk in the state, leaving victims hospitalized. Witnesses reported sporadic shootings that sent panic through communities.
Adeleke insisted his administration remains committed to peaceful elections, but warned that failure to rein in the violence could have dire consequences.
The Osun State Police Command said investigations are ongoing, but no arrests have been made as of press time. Residents are now living in fear as the political climate grows increasingly toxic ahead of the next polls.
