The Supreme Court has unanimously dismissed an appeal by former Kogi West Senator Smart Adeyemi challenging the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary in the state.
The appeal was in relation to the primary that selected Ahmed Usman Ododo as the party’s candidate for the November 11 governorship election.
The court held that Adeyemi’s appeal lacked merit and did not demonstrate that the previous judgments based on concurrent findings of fact were perverse. The panel awarded a sum of N1 million each to the APC and Ododo.
Adeyemi’s initial suit, seeking to declare the primary illegal, unlawful, and invalid, was dismissed in July by the Federal High Court. The Court of Appeal also upheld this verdict.
