The Supreme Court has reserved judgment on the appeal filed by Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State to overturn the nullification of his election.
The Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal had nullified Yusuf’s election, declaring Nasiru Gawuna of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the valid winner.
The tribunal held that some ballot papers relied upon to declare Yusuf as the winner were invalid.
Dissatisfied with the verdict, Yusuf approached the Court of Appeal, which upheld the tribunal’s decision, stating that Yusuf was not a valid candidate during the election.
