FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has retracted his endorsement of all agreements aimed at quelling the PDP’s ongoing leadership crisis, pinning the party’s woes squarely on Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
In a personal statement titled “PDP Crisis: My Position,” Wike declared he would “fight on until justice is attained,” after accusing Makinde of repeatedly reneging on pacts designed to stabilize the party.
Wike recounted two high-level meetings—first among the so-called G5 governors in Lagos, then an expanded session in Abuja with Governors Makinde, Bala Mohammed, Bukola Saraki, and others—during which they agreed to uphold Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, withdraw all legal suits from Rivers State, and quash the state-of-emergency litigation.
He praised these “gentleman’s agreements” as vital steps toward unity but lamented their immediate violation, alleging Makinde colluded with Enugu’s Peter Mba to engineer disruptions in the Southeast, and improperly elevated the Deputy National Secretary.
Frustrated by what he called “dishonesty and treachery,” Wike vowed to abandon further conciliation efforts until his conditions are met.
Emphasizing his long record of service to the PDP since 1998, he charged Makinde as “chief culprit” in the party’s descent into chaos and pledged to pursue redress through “every available means.”
