Pro-democracy activists took to the National Assembly, demanding the dismissal of Defence Minister Bello Muhammad Matawalle due to rising insecurity in Nigeria. They accused the minister of alleged complicity in the crisis, particularly in Zamfara state.
The group, known as the Civil Society Advocacy Groups for Accountability and Probity, called on Senate President Godswill Akpabio to intervene and ensure Matawalle is relieved of his position.
They cited concerns about the minister’s recent indictment by a panel set up by the Zamfara State government.
The protesters handed over a petition expressing their demands for the minister’s removal. The Senate received the petition and vowed to convey the grievances to the appropriate authorities.
