Reps Probe Alleged Maltreatment of Nigerians in Benin Republic

The House of Representatives has directed its Committees on Foreign Affairs, Human Rights, and Diaspora to investigate reported maltreatment of Nigerians residing in the Republic of Benin.
The motion, titled “Illegal Incarceration of Okumah Chika and Discriminatory Arrests of Nigerians in the Republic of Benin,” calls attention to the alleged unjust arrest and detention of Okumah Chika, a Nigerian living and working legally in Benin.
The investigation aims to address the reported discrimination, arrests, and detention faced by Nigerians in the neighboring country.
The committees have been tasked to report their findings within two weeks.
