The Kogi State Government has ordered the closure of all schools across the state for two weeks as a preventive response to rising security concerns.
Information Commissioner Kingsley Fanwo said the decision was based on credible intelligence and aimed at safeguarding students, teachers and school infrastructure. He stressed that the move was proactive rather than panic-driven.
The government assured residents that security agencies are intensifying operations against criminal hideouts, particularly in forested areas. Private school operators have been directed to comply, with resumption fixed for February 16, 2026.
Parents confirmed receiving emergency break notices from schools, as authorities reiterated that the safety of children remains non-negotiable.
