The Senate has declared the privatization of Nigeria’s power sector a failure, citing inconsistent supply and frequent grid collapses over 11 years.
During a session led by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, findings revealed issues such as outdated infrastructure, abandoned projects, and regulatory inefficiencies as root causes of over 100 grid collapses.
Lawmakers warned of possible legislative action to repeal the policy, emphasizing the need for reforms to stabilize electricity supply.
