Senate Passes 2024 National Minimum Wage Amendment Bill

The Senate has passed the 2024 National Minimum Wage Amendment Bill, which seeks to increase the national minimum wage from N30,000 to N70,000 and reduce the review period from five years to three.

The bill, transmitted by President Bola Tinubu on July 23, received swift consideration, reflecting the urgency of the matter in light of recent agitations from labor unions.

The upward revision is part of the government’s short-term strategy to address economic challenges and improve workers’ welfare.
