Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has cautioned the National Assembly to ensure tax reforms do not worsen Nigeria’s uneven development.
In a tweet on Sunday, Atiku called for a fiscal regime that fosters fairness and equity across states. He urged transparency in deliberations, encouraging public hearings to include diverse stakeholders.
Atiku also advised lawmakers to align the reforms with the interests of the majority of Nigerians.
The Tax Reform Bills have stirred public debate, with many fearing adverse impacts on less-developed regions.
