President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors-designate and high commissioners to various countries and multilateral missions, assigning former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode to Germany and presidential aide Reno Omokri to Mexico.
According to a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the list comprises 34 non-career and 31 career ambassadors.
Other prominent names include former Defence Minister Abdulrahman Dambazau to China, former Abia governor Okezie Ikpeazu to Spain, former Health Minister Isaac Adewole to Canada, and Aminu Dalhatu to the United Kingdom.
Senator Jimoh Ibrahim was posted as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, while former Enugu governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was assigned to Greece and former NIA boss Ayodele Oke to France.
Among career diplomats, Mohammed Mahmud Lele goes to Algeria, Shehu Barde to Ghana, Aminu Nasir to Ethiopia and Ibrahim Danlami to Kenya.
The Presidency said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already secured agrément for postings to the United Kingdom and France, while requests for the remaining envoys have been sent to host countries.
The appointees are expected to undergo induction before assuming duty.
