President Tinubu on Thursday commissioned the Airport Expressway–Kuje Township Junction road in Abuja, praising FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for delivering the long-abandoned project.
Tinubu described the road as evidence of what political will can achieve in governance. The project, which had stalled for years under previous administrations, is expected to ease movement for residents and improve economic activity in the area.
However, critics question the timing of the commissioning, given the widespread hardship faced by Nigerians.
Many see it as a political move to boost Wike’s profile ahead of 2027 elections.
The president reiterated his commitment to infrastructure development despite the tough economic climate.
