President Bola Tinubu has set to depart Abuja on Sunday for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to participate in the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, which will focus on the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.
According to a statement from Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the summit will commence on Monday, November 11, 2024, at the invitation of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
President Tinubu is expected to address the escalating Israel-Palestinian conflict and advocate for an immediate ceasefire and a revived push for a two-state solution as a sustainable path to peace.
High-profile officials accompanying him include Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Amb. Mohammed Mohammed.
This summit follows a similar event last year in Riyadh and aims to unite leaders in fostering solutions amid rising humanitarian concerns. President Tinubu is scheduled to return to Nigeria after the summit concludes.
