The United States has categorically denied plans to establish a military base in Nigeria, contrary to claims circulating in the country.
David Greene, US chargé d’affaires in Nigeria, clarified that the reports were unfounded and served no purpose. He emphasized that the US would continue its robust security cooperation with Nigeria, prioritizing partnership and mutual respect.
Greene also highlighted the US government’s significant investments in Nigeria’s health and humanitarian sectors, totaling $2.5 billion over five years, with additional funding for humanitarian assistance reaching up to $300 million annually.
