Following his declaration as one of the eight persons wanted by the Defence Headquarters in connection with the killing of 17 military personnel in Okuama community, HRM Clement Ikolo Oghenerukevwe, the King of Ewu Kingdom in Delta State, has turned himself in to the Delta State Police Command.
Arriving at the state police command headquarters at 6:41 pm on Thursday, the monarch surrendered himself to Police Commissioner Olufemi Abaniwonda. Prior to his surrender, he spoke to journalists, vehemently denying any involvement in the matter.
Confirming his custody, the Delta State Police Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, verified the monarch’s surrender.
The Defence Headquarters had declared Ikolo wanted alongside seven others, including Prof. Ekpekpo Arthur and Akevwru Daniel Omotegbo, following the recent killings.
In his statement to the press, Ikolo maintained his innocence, expressing surprise at his inclusion on the wanted list. He emphasized his commitment to justice and cooperation with authorities in the investigation.
Meanwhile, investigations into the Okuama killings continue, with the surrendered monarch’s statement expected to shed light on the incident.
