The Director General of the Service, retired Hameed Ali told newsmen today, October 20, at the Presidential villa, Abuja that his administration has zero tolerance for corrupt officers.
He said that some of those who have been sacked were, in addition to losing their jobs, got prosecuted and jailed.
Hameed Ali said that many of them were found to be shortchanging the Service in its revenue drive, especially on the duties that were supposed to be paid for imported vehicles.
He said that some importers who engaged in sharp practices that impinged on the activities of the Service have either been suspended or prosecuted.
The Customs Boss said that he would continue to do his best to ensure excellent services but it would not be his headache on whether those coming after him will maintain the standard.
