CAF Receives Over 5,000 Accreditation Requests for AFCON 2023

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reported receiving over 5,000 media accreditation applications for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2023.
This number represents a significant increase of 90% compared to the applications received for the previous edition in Cameroon in 2021.
CAF noted that the high demand has led to the implementation of quotas for different countries due to space constraints. More than 70 nationalities have applied to cover the tournament, reflecting the widespread interest in Africa’s premier football event. CAF is working to ensure fairness in allocating quotas to different countries and prioritizing media freedom.
The AFCON 2023 is scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 11 in Cote d’Ivoire, featuring 24 participating nations.
