Chelsea Sack Enzo Maresca

Chelsea have parted ways with head coach Enzo Maresca, ending his spell less than two years after taking charge. In a statement on Thursday, the club said both parties agreed that a change was necessary as the season entered a critical stretch.

Maresca delivered the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup during his tenure — achievements the club described as “an important part of our recent history.”

However, with Champions League qualification and three other competitions still in play, Chelsea said a new direction was needed to steady the campaign.

The Italian tactician joined Chelsea after guiding Leicester City to the Championship title in 2024. The Blues are expected to announce a new manager before Sunday’s Premier League showdown with Manchester City. The club wished Maresca well in his future endeavours.
