Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen, has been named the 2023 CAF Men’s Player of the Year. Osimhen clinched the award, beating Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah.
He is the first Nigerian to win the award since Nwankwo Kanu claimed it in 1999. In the women’s category, Asisat Oshoala secured the Women’s Player of the Year for the sixth consecutive time.
Oshoala triumphed over South Africa’s Thembi Klagtlana and Zambia’s Barbara Banda.
Additionally, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Oshoala’s Super Falcons teammate, received the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.
The Super Falcons were also honored as the National Team of the Year.
