Nigerians Spend N2.6 Trillion on Data and Airtime in Nine Months

Nigerian telecom subscribers have spent at least N2.59 trillion on airtime and data in the first nine months of 2023, marking a 32.57% increase from the N1.95 trillion recorded in the corresponding period of 2022.
This surge is attributed to rising data subscriptions and the devaluation of the naira.
MTN Nigeria reported a 36.4% growth in data revenue, while Airtel Africa recorded a 29.3% growth in data revenue, both highlighting the increasing significance of data services in the country.
Data usage in Nigeria is expected to continue surging, outpacing voice revenues in the coming years.
