The Russian government has issued a stern warning to British and other foreign nationals, cautioning them against traveling to designated military zones in Ukraine.
In a statement released by the Russian Embassy in Abuja, officials asserted that foreign travelers’ safety cannot be guaranteed in the current conflict environment. “Entering active combat zones poses an immediate threat to life and health,” the statement declared, urging non-Ukrainians to avoid these areas.
The embassy stressed that any foreign nationals who join Ukraine-linked military units would be considered mercenaries and could be targeted by the Russian Armed Forces, facing criminal prosecution if captured.
This warning comes amid ongoing tensions, as Russia has long criticized Western support—particularly from Britain and the United States—for Ukraine, accusing these allies of exacerbating the conflict through military and diplomatic interventions.
Russian authorities made it clear that the security situation in Ukraine’s Special Military Operation zone remains volatile. With the conflict intensifying since February 2022, officials reiterated that the presence of foreign nationals in these regions is a grave risk.
