The video, posted on Trump’s Truth Social platform, alleged irregularities in the 2020 US presidential election and featured claims by cybersecurity expert Phil Waldron about coordinated vote-counting pauses in key states.
At the end of the clip, AI-generated monkey figures resembling the Obamas appeared dancing to “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”
The post triggered backlash across social media, with critics accusing Trump of racism and inflammatory behaviour. California Governor Gavin Newsom’s press office described the video as “disgusting,” calling on Republicans to publicly denounce it.
Trump shared the clip twice, amplifying criticism and reigniting debate over election misinformation and racial undertones.
