United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Mr. Babatunde A. Ahonsi of Nigeria as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Turkey.
With 26 years of international development expertise, Ahonsi previously served as the UN Resident Coordinator in Sierra Leone, overseeing and supporting the UN’s development operations in the country.
He has experience in managing UN assistance in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Prevention Agenda.
Ahonsi also served as the UN Resident Coordinator in China and held roles with the Ford Foundation and the Population Council.
His extensive background in international development positions him well for his new role in Turkey.
