The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has killed 592 terrorists and destroyed 372 enemy assets in Borno within eight months, surpassing 2024’s operational gains.
NAF spokesman Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, disclosed this during a visit to Governor Babagana Zulum.
Targets destroyed included 206 technical vehicles and 166 logistics hubs across insurgent strongholds from Gonori to Mallam Fatori.
Operations were boosted by A-29 Super Tucano aircraft for precision night missions, Mi-171 helicopters for logistics, and enhanced intelligence platforms for round-the-clock surveillance. A new Mi-35 gunship is expected to strengthen close-air support.
In total, NAF flew 798 combat sorties, clocking over 1,500 hours under Operation Hadin Kai. Abubakar praised the “Borno Model” of combining military action with community-based non-kinetic measures.
Governor Zulum commended NAF’s role in saving lives and aiding community rebuilding, assuring continued state support.
Abubakar reaffirmed the Air Force’s commitment to intelligence-led, precision strikes in the counter-insurgency campaign.
