Police have arrested 12 suspected robbers linked to the brutal killing of ARISE News anchor Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu.
According to the statement, the suspects were tracked through stolen phones and arrested by the Scorpion Squad led by ACP Victor Godfrey.
Key suspect Shamsudeen Hassan confessed to shooting the security guard, while Sani Sirajo admitted trying to stop the journalist from falling off the building but was “overwhelmed by her weight.”
Recovered items include an AK-47 rifle, pump-action gun, knives, torchlights, and victims’ phones.
Police said each suspect received ₦200,000 from the robbery proceeds. The arrest follows digital forensics by EIB STRATOC’s Giga Forensics Unit. Authorities described the breakthrough as evidence that technology-driven policing is helping solve high-profile crimes nationwide.
